Government Girls Higher Secondary School Gizri

Gizri, Karachi, Pakistan · Managed by Ravians Educational Services Trust (REST)

Government Girls Higher Secondary School Gizri serves children from the poorest families in Karachi — free education from Kindergarten through Matric.

The campus was once a collection of 12 struggling public school units. Before REST’s adoption in 2012, “ghost” attendance was common, grounds were misused, and basic necessities — clean water, toilets, electricity, usable classrooms — were missing.

Through public-private partnership and donor support, the school restored essentials, raised academic standards, and began posting some of the strongest results among government schools — including top provincial board performance in key years.

Managed by Ravians Educational Services Trust (REST), Gizri is a living model for what a public girls’ school can become when governance, community, and donors refuse to accept neglect as normal.
